Karen Deneen Drake went to her forever home on September 7, 2023 at the age of 59. Karen was born on July 20,1964 to the late Michael Furry and Christine Townsend in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She was raised by William Don and Christine Townsend in Granite City, Illinois. She was a 59-year member of Christ Gospel Church where she worshiped with her husband and took her children.
Karen met her husband, Roy Drake, at River Falls Christian School in 1980. They married three years later, September 28, 1985 and had two daughters, Dana, and Kayla.
Karen enjoyed spending time with her family, including: family trips, games nights, shopping, and hosting family dinners. She also loved spoiling her 3 grandbabies, whom she loved dearly. She attended all soccer games, basketball games, band and school performances that she physically could. When it came to the grandkids, she rarely missed events and activities.
Karen was very talented with crochet. She so generously made burial hats, blankets and booties for infants who had passed. She worked with local hospitals and funeral homes to get what the family needed for their deceased child. She was very passionate about helping others and was selfless in many regards.
Karen is survived by her husband of 28 years, Roy Drake; two daughters, Dana Willever (Derrick), and Kayla Parmelee (Tyler); a sister Darla Rice; three grandchildren, Lexi, Peyton and Cole; along with aunts, uncles and cousins.
There will be a visitation on Monday, September 11, 2023 from 4-8pm at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130. Service will be on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 11am with more visitation before from 9-11am at Christ Gospel Church, 2614 E 10th St. Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130.
