Karen Muntz Obituary

Karen Lynn Muntz, 67, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025. Born in Louisville to the late Albert and Elwanda Lorey, Karen’s life was one filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. In her early years she embraced the community of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Jeffersonville.

A devoted wife, mother, Granny, great-grandmother, and sister, Karen’s greatest joy was found in the embrace of her family. She will be remembered for her unwavering love, her generous heart, and the warmth she brought to everyone she encountered. An avid Winnie the Pooh fanatic, Karen carried a childlike wonder throughout her life, finding joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was also a passionate and thrifty shopper, always on the hunt for a great deal.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Diana Willoughby.

Karen leaves behind a legacy of love in her children, Michael Scott (Brandy) and Lucretia Durbin (Carl); her grandchildren, Carl Durbin Jr., Caelen Durbin, Collin Durbin, Alexis Durbin, Dillon Scott, Parker Noe, Mahaily Scott, Travis Hoerter, and Piper Scott; and her precious great-grandchildren, Saylor, Waylon, Braylon, and Daylon. She is also survived by her beloved brothers, Gary Lorey, Joe Lorey, Jeff Lorey, and David Lorey, and her brother-in-law, Larry Willoughby.

Honoring Karen’s wishes, the family has chosen cremation, with visiting hours to occur 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Monday, February 24, 2025, at Scott Funeral Home, located at 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville.

Karen’s love, kindness, and light will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will continue to shine in the memories and stories we hold dear.

“If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.” – Winnie the Pooh
