Kay F. Lindsey

Kay F. Lindsey was born on November 14, 1947 in Jeffersonville, Indiana and passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026 in Jeffersonville, Indiana.  She was a lifelong member ofWesley United Methodist Church.

In 1966, she graduated from Jeffersonville High School.  She earned her Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and specialist degrees in Elementary Education from IndianaUniversity Southeast.

Kay was a member of the following organizations: Indiana Retired Teachers Association- SE, National Education Association/ ISTA Retired, National Association for the  Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and American Association of Retired Persons (AARP).  Kay was a Lifetime member of the Indiana University Alumni Association, Neal- Marshall Kentuckiana Chapter, and the Louisville/ Southern IN Chapter.  She was also a member of the “Friends of the Depot.” In 2017, Kay was a recipient of the Indiana University Alumni Association President’s Award.

She retired from Greater Clark County Schools in June of 2003, after 33 years of teaching.  She taught at Maple and Spring Hill Elementary in Jeffersonville and Pleasant Ridge Elementary in Charlestown, Indiana.

She is survived by her brothers, Kevin W. Lindsey (Patty), Gregory D. Lindsey (Leslie), sisters, Janice F. Douglas and Maria E. Lindsey, nephews, Evan M. Lindsey (Lindsay) and  Anthony E. Lindsey, nieces, Shauna P. Lindsey and Tracey P. Lindsey, great niece, Aria Kay Lindsey and great nephew, Lennox A. Lindsey, all of Jeffersonville, Indiana and a host of other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Helen Lindsey and her brother-in-law, Rayburn Douglas.

The family requests expressions of sympathy to take the form of memorial gifts to her church: Wesley United Methodist Church, 1201 Thomas V. Bryant Drive, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130.  Envelopes will be available at her visitation and service.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1201 Thomas V. Bryant Drive, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130.  The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm at the church.
