With profound love and cherished memories, we announce the peaceful passing of LaKeeshia Mitchell, who departed this life at her home in Jeffersonville, Indiana, on Monday, July 6, 2026, at the age of 48.

LaKeeshia was a woman whose heart knew no strangers. She found joy in helping others and devoted her time as a volunteer with the local Big Brother Program, where she poured encouragement, compassion, and hope into the lives of those she served. She was often described as a "great bridge"—someone who had the rare gift of bringing people together, calming troubled hearts, and helping others find peace through life's challenges. Her emotional intelligence, wisdom, and gentle spirit made her a trusted confidante to many.

Patience was one of LaKeeshia's greatest virtues. She extended kindness to everyone she met, but there was something especially tender about the way she loved babies and young children. Her nurturing nature and warm smile left a lasting impression on all who experienced her care.

LaKeeshia took pride in presenting herself with grace and confidence. She loved dressing beautifully and embracing her gorgeous natural hair, carrying herself with elegance that reflected the beauty within. She was also a gifted baker whose famous pineapple upside-down cake became a favorite at family gatherings and celebrations. Whether sharing a meal, offering a listening ear, or simply spending time with loved ones, she made every moment feel special.

Above all else, LaKeeshia treasured her family. Her greatest joy was loving and caring for those closest to her. She shared a beautiful love story with her devoted husband, Danny Jones, whom she had known for 28 years and was blessed to be married to for 15 wonderful years. Their enduring bond was built on friendship, faith, laughter, and unwavering love.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving husband, Danny; her mother, Regina Mitchell Davidson (Larry); her beloved children, Janelle Jones and Jullian Jones; her brothers, Carlos Mitchell and Martaz Mitchell; her stepmother, Lynn Mitchell; her uncles, Charles Lambus (Nicole) and James Mitchell (Vera); her aunts, Louise Scott, Kathy Mitchell, Jacqueline Cole, Lillian Thompson, Monica Tudor, and Tonya Tudor; her mother-in-law, Mary Jones; her brother-in-law, Chris Jones; her sister-in-law, April Jones (Boris Joiner); her lifelong best friend, Shatonya Weathers (Derlwain); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were forever enriched by her love.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we celebrate a life beautifully lived—a life marked by compassion, generosity, grace, and unconditional love. LaKeeshia's legacy will continue through the countless lives she touched, the family she adored, and the love she freely gave. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in our hearts.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Brighter Day Anderson Temple, 1755 E. 8th Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church.
