Larry Myers Obituary

Larry Nelson Myers, 73, of Utica, Indiana

Larry Nelson Myers, 73, life-long resident of Utica passed away on September 20, 2022 after an illness. He was born on September 17, 1949 to Rose and Nelson Myers, both life-long Utica residents. He was a descendant of the Lyman Parks family, one of the earliest settlers in Utica.

Larry was a Jeffersonville High School graduate and retired from Ford Kentucky Truck Plant after 37 years of service as a UAW member. He was a life-time member of the Clark County Casting and Conservation Club in Utica where he served one term as president.

He was a dedicated Indiana basketball fan and rarely missed watching a game. If possible, please wear red and white to the funeral home. In his younger days he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing softball and attending NASCAR races.

He is survived by wife, Chris Myers of Utica, son Brad Myers, and grandchildren Josh and Kierstynn all of Ohio. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Mike Sr. and Annie Myers of Utica and nephew Mike Myers, Jr. (Vicky Haire).

Other survivors are sister-in-law Missy Davis Elrod of Jeffersonville, her daughter Jennifer Nevitt and grandchildren Caydence Johnson, Brooklyn Todd, and Aleigha Todd and Missy’s daughter Courtney Nevitt and grandchildren Xander and Kaliyah Langdon. Additional survivors are sister-in-law Elizabeth Davis Yienger (Bob) and her children Grace and John Yienger of New York. Special friend and neighbor Jimmy Boisseau also survives.

He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Nelson Myers, parents Rose and Nelson Myers, sister Jane Carol McKinney, and special aunt Ananna Parks.

The family would like to give special thanks to staff at Norton Brownsboro Hospital and Norton Brownsboro Wound Care Center for the excellent care provided during Larry’s illness.

The following events will take place on Thursday, September 22 at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway in Jeffersonville: Visitation from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.; Funeral service at 6 p.m.; Reception starting at 6:30 p.m. All friends and relatives are invited to attend.

Cremation has been chosen and final resting place will be in Utica Hillcrest Cemetery next to son Brian and parents Rose and Nelson Myers.
