Larry Shingleton Obituary

Larry Shingleton, 81, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on August 23, 1944, Larry lived a life defined by faith, devotion, joy, and a deep love for those around him.

Larry was a proud and faithful member of North Charlestown Church of God, where his presence and servant’s heart were a blessing to many. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding the way he loved and cared for his family and community.

He found simple pleasures in life—watching classic westerns, spending time with his family, and loving on his dogs. Larry’s family was his greatest treasure. Whether gathered for holidays, celebrations, or quiet evenings together, he cherished every moment.

One of the most special ways Larry shared his joy was by dressing as Santa Claus for school and church events. For many children and families, he wasn’t just playing a role—he truly embodied the spirit of generosity and warmth, creating memories that will last for generations.

Larry is survived by his loving children, Tonia Kilgore (Chuck) and Damon Shingleton (Sabina); his cherished grandchildren, Sabrina Kilgore, Rymon Kilgore III, Connor Kilgore, and Prashun KC; and his siblings, Gordon Shingleton (Shirley), Mike Shingleton, and Diana Brewer (Bill).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Shingleton and Nona Shingleton; his beloved wife, Sharon Shingleton; and his brothers, Paul Shingleton and Bobby Shingleton.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home - 2515 Veterans Parkway. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, and in keeping with Larry’s love for dogs, donations may be made in his memory to Jeffersonville Animal Shelter.

Larry’s legacy of faith, kindness, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
