Linda was born in New Albany and was a 1964 graduate of Jeffersonville High School. She worked for Greater Clark County Schools administration for many years. Linda enjoyed spending time with her Prather Elementary School Friends group at their monthly luncheon. Above all, she loved her family and was happiest when spending time with them, especially when making peanut butter fudge with her grandchildren. She was a cancer survivor and was nicknamed “Warrior” as she fought through many battles with her health over the years. As a Christian, her faith was evident. She was brave and strong and always had a great outlook and positive attitude, even during the most difficult times. She was beautiful inside and out. She was loved dearly and her fiery spirit and sweet smile will be terribly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Maurine Brooks, her brother Horace Grant, her sister Alice Himmel, and her son-in-law David “Mac” McFarland.
Surviving family includes her loving and devoted husband of 17 years, Michael Fisher; two daughters, Amy Siegfried (Scott), and Jennifer McFarland Kern (Tony); four grandchildren, Jessica Siegfried (age 19), Jacobsen McFarland (age 15), Cole McFarland (age 13), and Mitchell McFarland (age 11); and four siblings, Mary Margaret Brooks Grimes, Lillie Brooks Guilfoyle (Terry), Jeannie Brooks Brandenburg, and Jeffrey Brooks (Ellie); and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1640 Lyndon Farm Ct STE 104, Louisville, KY 40223. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
