Lorie Ann Nevils, 67, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on July 31, 1958, Lorie lived a life centered on family, faith, friendship, and simple joys. A lifelong member of First Christian Church in Jeffersonville, Lorie’s faith and warm spirit touched the lives of many in her community.
Lorie was known for her vibrant personality and her ability to make everyone feel welcome. Hosting gatherings was one of her greatest joys, and friends and family lovingly knew her as the “hostess with the mostess.” Whether she was throwing a party, decorating cakes, sharing a meal she had lovingly cooked, or enjoying time around a campfire, Lorie created spaces where laughter and memories were always plentiful.
She loved animals, camping, cooking, and hunting for treasures at yard sales. Many cherished memories were made as she traveled with her concession trailer to horse shows, where she combined her love of community with her gift for bringing people together. She also enjoyed the lighter side of life, especially sharing margaritas and tequila with friends and family.
Above all else, Lorie’s greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren. She treasured every moment spent with them and loved watching them grow, always cheering them on with endless love and enthusiasm.
Lorie is survived by her loving children, Courtney Darnell (Frankie) and Jason Nevils (Jennifer); her beloved grandchildren, Landen Darnell, Tinsley Darnell, Michael Elston (Olivia), and Keira Wilson (Wes); her sister, Mary Kay Wilson (Roger); and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Terrell Nevils; her parents, Harold and Norma Hedge; and her brother, Brent Hedge.
