Lorilyn Dyson Obituary

Lorilyn Dyson, age 68 of Jeffersonville, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and love that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Born to the late Hildaberto and Rosella (Burgo) BenDavid and raised by Mary Drayton.  Lorilyn was a vibrant and spirited woman who found her calling not only in her work, but in the people she served. As the proud owner and operator of Lorilyn’s Hair Salon in Jeffersonville for many years, she created more than just beautiful hairstyles—she created lasting relationships. Her chair was a place of conversation, comfort, and connection. She didn’t just style hair; she became a trusted friend, confidant, and a bright spot in the lives of so many.

Lorilyn had a zest for life that was truly contagious. She found joy in the thrill of the casino, where the spinning slot machines were her playful “Kryptonite.” Whether she won or lost, it was the excitement and fun that kept her coming back, always with a smile and a story to tell.

She was a devoted fan of “Days of Our Lives,” faithfully tuning in and following along with the characters as if they were old friends. At home, her kitchen was her sanctuary—a place where love was the main ingredient. Known for her famous dump cake, Lorilyn filled her home not only with delicious food, but with cherished memories, laughter, and the comforting presence of family gathered close.

Above all, Lorilyn’s greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. She treasured every moment spent with them—showing them how to cook, teaching them how to swim, and passing down the simple, meaningful traditions that will live on through generations. Her love for them was boundless, and the time she spent with them will forever be a gift they carry in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Edward Dyson, and five brothers.

Lorilyn leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, Roy Alvin McWilliams, Danielle McWilliams and Sean Edward Dyson (Carrie); her sister, Debra Cardozo (Glenn) and her brothers, Larry Drayton and Charles Drayton; her treasured grandchildren, Nevaeh McWilliams, Kejean Short McWilliams, Alayla Wharton, Ayanna Wharton, Andre “AJ” Webb, Jocelyn Green, Robert Green and Sean Taylor Edward Dyson; her Great-grand-daughter, Skye; her nephews, Glenn and Allen, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

A celebration of Lorilyn’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Scott Funeral Home (2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville), officiated by Rev.  Albert L. Cole. Friends may visit from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.

Lorilyn will be remembered for her kind heart, her lively spirit, and the way she made everyone feel like family. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and connection—a beautiful life well lived and a soul that will never be forgotten.
