Louis Ernest “Ernie” Hartman Jr, lost his 25 year battle with diabetes and passed away at his residence in Utica, IN, on March 12, 2021. He was born in Jeffersonville, IN. He was a meat cutter by trade and the former owner of Ernie’s Quality Meats in New Albany. He was a member of the Utica Church of Christ. In retirement, he enjoyed and devoted his time to tending and caring for abused and neglected horses he had rescued and his other pets.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis E Sr. and Ann Applegate Hartman. He is survived by his household family members, Kelli Westerfield, his long time girlfriend and her grandchildren, Ethan and Jennifer Westerfield, all of whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his son, Nicholas Hartman and a sister, Carla Newkirk.
All friends and family of Ernie’s are invited to a Celebration of Life service at the Utica Church of Christ, 300 S. 4th St, Jeffersonville (Utica) IN on Tuesday March 30 at 4 pm.
