Marian Lois Stephens

Marian Lois Stephens, aged 76, passed away on June 30, 2024 in New Albany, Indiana.  Born on September 3, 1947 to the late Barney & Helen Stephens, Marian’s legacy of kindness, education, and faith will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Marian was an encourager to everyone she knew, and her favorite thing to do was to pray for the needs and concerns of others.  Her love for the Lord shone through every aspect of her life.  She was dedicated to reflecting the joy of the Lord and spreading his love and message. 

Marian was a devoted member of the Hamburg Pike Church of Christ in Indiana, where she was involved in the card ministry, a reflection of her compassionate spirit and commitment to her faith.  Her love for her church was profound, influencing many aspects of her life and service. Sunday was her favorite day of the week, and she considered it “Sonsational” Sunday.

She was an elementary school teacher in Mitchell, Indiana for 35 years.  It brought her great joy to encourage and educate the children of the community.

Marian is survived by cousins; David Carnine (Pat), Alicia Hamilton (Bert), Earl Jacobs (Dotty), Chad Jacobs, Jeff Jacobs (Kara), Cecil Carnine (Marsha), Gina Davis (Jeff), Danna Bush (Steve) and many more extended members of the family. 

Marian is preceded in death by cousins; E. Joan Leedy, Cecil Carnine, Jr., and Daniel Carnine.

A service to honor Marian’s life will be held at Hamburg Pike Church of Christ in Jeffersonville, IN on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 11 am.  Burial to follow at Bluff Creek Cemetery in Greenwood, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hamburg Pike Church of Christ, Mitchell Community Schools, or Spring Mill Bible Camp (Mitchell, IN).
