Marian Ruth Able (Kepley) Obituary

Marian Ruth Able (Kepley), age 67, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Friday, December 6, 2024.  She was born May 8, 1957 in Corydon, IN to the late Lloyd and Dorothy Able.

She leaves behind a legacy of selflessness and compassion. A party host extraordinaire, master gift-giver, prolific letter and card sender, life of the party, and baker of sweet treats, Marian spent her 67 years on Earth looking out for those who needed it most. She worked as a caregiver.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Dorothy Able. She is survived by her children: Tyler Kepley, Regan Moore (Theo), Jacob Kepley (Bobbi), Shane Kepley (Haley), and Cameron Kepley…her brother, David Able…grandchildren Evin Cartrette and Eli Cartrette…and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

A social butterfly, Marian could make a lifelong friend anywhere, even at the grocery store. What made her special was her ability to maintain countless friendships throughout her life. She never forgot a name, a birthday, or someone’s favorite food. She worked tirelessly to ensure those she befriended knew they were loved and that someone was thinking of them.

She never passed up an opportunity to make a friend, capture a beautiful sunset or flowers, or relax on a beach. She lived to “stop and smell the roses.”

Marian was a member of Northside Christian Church (New Albany, IN), where she could often be found early in the front rows. Her faith drove her deep compassion and unconditional love for others.

Marian will be remembered as an amazing mom, sister, aunt, grandma, and friend. She will be missed by many.

Visitation will be at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville on Friday, December 13 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm, and again on Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 am with her funeral service at 10:00 am in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.
