Marilyn Joyce (Downey) Knudsen

Marilyn “Joyce” Knudsen, 78, of Clarksville, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at the University of Louisville Hospital.  Cremation was chosen and Scott Funeral Home has been entrusted with her care.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.   

Joyce was born on February 24, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Earl and Ruth Downey.  She was the owner of Jacqueline’s Beauty Salon in Lafayette, California for 20 years and after retirement she obtained her CNA and became a caregiver.  Joyce enjoyed helping others but more than anything, she loved spending time with her family and grandkids who referred to her as NaNa.  She was baptized and attended the Church of Christ in New Albany until recently. She was an avid reader, enjoyed shopping and a good show on Lifetime or the Hallmark channel. 

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry H. Knudsen. 

Joyce is survived by her three children, R. Wesley Knudsen, USN Retired (Heidi), Kevin Knudsen (Linda), and Christy Etheredge (Steve); five siblings, Marvin Downey, Rita Faye Bond, Phillip Downey, Nancy Esparza, John Richard Downey (Beverly); seven grandchildren, Caroline Matthews (Patrick), Johnathan Bach, Brandon Gibson (Katie), Taylor Knudsen, Jesse Knudsen, Grace Knudsen, Kaylee Knudsen; and five great grandchildren, William Matthews, Tyler Bach, Caitlyn Matthews, Hailey Bach, and Sophia Gibson.
