Martha Jo Tucker-Moore

Martha Jo Tucker-Moore, 84 of Jeffersonville, departed her life here on earth to ascend to her heavenly home on August 29, 2024 at 11 AM.  Martha peacefully passed at UofL hospital, surrounded by family and friends.

Martha was born in Louisville, KY on February 22, 1940 to Paul Lynnwood Tucker and Dorothy Richmond – Tucker. Martha was married to Drury L. Moore on June 24th,1961 at the United Brethren Church, New Albany IN. Martha and Drury recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.

After graduating from New Albany high school in 1959, Martha attended Weaver Airline School; however her real passion was photography where she welcomed an opportunity to work with Dunbar – Stanley Studios in Charlotte, NC as a professional children's photographer. She was a natural and traveled much of the North Central region the next two years where she quickly became their leading photographer and top trainer.

In 1961, Martha and Drury built a home in Jeffersonville and welcomed their 1st daughter in 1962. They welcomed their second daughter in 1971.  She cherished the opportunity to be a stay-at-home Mom for her 2 daughters and a caretaker for another child to help out a friend. As time passed, Martha’s love for children developed into a professional daycare business, which continued for 25 years where she positively impacted the lives of more than 75 children. She then got the opportunity to serve as the office manager for her husband’s insurance business at American Family Insurance for over 17 years until she and Drury both retired together in 2007.

Martha was blessed with two daughters, Paula Dru Moore – Edwards (John) and Joellen Dru Moore-Doherty (Steve), 8 grandchildren, Jonathan Paul Edwards (Emily), Kristine Lauren Edwards, Cameron Paul Edwards, Kailey Lauren Edwards, Cortnie Jo Doherty and Emilie Jo Doherty-Hoffman (Braden) and one Sister-In- Law, Sandy Tucker.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, J. Paul “Johnny” Tucker. Both were longtime loyal members of Southeast Christian Church.

Martha’s visitation and funeral/celebration of life will be held at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville IN. Visitation will be 2 PM to 8 PM Friday, September 6 and again on Saturday September 7 from 9:00 AM until her funeral service/celebration of life at 10 AM. Pastor Bob Russell will  lead the services. Burial will immediately follow at Kraft Graceland Cemetery in New Albany, IN.

The family would like to extend a beautiful thank you to The UofL ER and hospital staff who cared for our Mom for 3 weeks. She could not have had better care and we greatly appreciate them all.
