With hearts full of love and gratitude, the family of Mary Louise Kunz announces her peaceful passing on November 14, 2025, at Baptist Floyd Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 19, 1944, Mary spent 80 beautiful years filling the lives of those around her with warmth, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
Mary was a woman who cherished life’s simple joys. A proud supporter of IU sports, she rarely missed a game and cheered with the same passion she poured into everything she loved. Her greatest joy, however, was her family—especially her grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as Nana. Whether gathered around the table for family dinners, celebrating milestones, or simply sharing stories and smiles, Mary’s presence made every moment richer.
A lifelong member of several bunko clubs, Mary deeply valued friendship and camaraderie. Her quick laughter, spirited conversations, and welcoming nature made her a cherished companion to many. She also had a lifelong fondness for Elvis, and his music often provided the soundtrack to her happiest days.
Mary’s legacy lives on through her children, Khristy Whisman (Lance) and Rodney Kunz; her grandchildren, Brittany Westerfield (Brandon), Bailey Fregia (Austin), Jessica Barnett (David), and Beth Kunz; and her great-grandchildren, Brinley Westerfield, Remington Fregia, and Colt Fregia, Jonathan Fraze, Hazel Barnett, Alaina Cundiff and Millie Walter. She is also survived by her sister, Margie Phillips; her nieces, Deanna Lymberopoulos (Greg) and Jane Phillips (Shelby); and her lifelong friend, Peggy Renn—a testament to the deep and lasting relationships Mary cultivated throughout her life.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Harold and Madge Smith; her husband, James Kunz; and her son, Marc Kunz, with whom she is now joyfully reunited.
Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Mary’s life during visitation on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, Indiana. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., with burial immediately afterward.
Mary Louise Kunz will be remembered for her boundless love, her loyalty, her laughter, and the kindness she showed to all. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved her, and her memory will be cherished forever.
