Mary Margaret Richards

Mary Margaret Richards, 102, of Sellerburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025, with her family by her side.

Mary was born on May 17, 1922, in Hegira Ridge, Kentucky, the daughter of Porter and Trannie (Graham) Riddle. She lived a life full of love, devotion, and warmth, touching the hearts of everyone who knew her.

As a dedicated homemaker and caregiver, Mary always put her family first, making sure that their needs were met with kindness and care. A devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Burkesville, Kentucky, she held her faith close and lived her life with strong principles.

Mary was known for her exceptional cooking and culinary talents. Her love for food, coupled with her gift of gab, made her a joy to be around—whether you were sharing a meal or just enjoying her company. She cherished her family, especially her grandchildren, and was always ready to share a story, a laugh, or a delicious dish. One of her favorite weekly traditions was heading to Jay C Food Store, preparing for her next cooking adventure, and making sure everyone was well-fed and cared for.

Mary was a true and genuine person whose warmth and light will be missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and faith that will continue to inspire for generations to come.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Porter and Trannie Riddle; husband, Lecel Richards; her son, Jack Richards; son -in-law, Patrick Middleton. She is survived by her children; Bobby Richards(Patricia), Margaret Middleton, Cindy Lovan(Mark); daughter-in-law, Wendelin Richards; brother, Robert Riddle(Betty); along with 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 10am to 1pm with service to follow at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130. Burial will follow at Sellersburg Cemetery.
