Mary Claire Rickert

Mary Claire Rickert, age 71, of New Albany, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, at Baptist Health Floyd.

Mary had a deep love for her family, and nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her grandchildren. She had a creative spirit and enjoyed arts and crafts, exploring nature through rock and fossil hunting, researching genealogy, and indulging her fascination with aliens and the supernatural.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Melissa Avila and Heather Brown; her cherished grandchildren, Christian Witbey (Julia), Kamryn Frazure (Jason), Kendyl Overbey, Brayden Brown, Cassandra Overbey, Lexis Brown (Reese McCoskey), Michael Brown, and Liliana Avila; and her beloved great-grandson, Alexander Frazure.

Mary also leaves behind her devoted siblings, Ray Schneider (June), Jerry Schneider (Rhonda), Wayne Schneider, Dennis Schneider, Barbara Henckel, Dorothy Ault, Joseph Schneider (Patty), and James Schneider (Gloria); and her son-in-law, Darrell Brown.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Mary Schneider; her brother, Russell Schneider; and her brothers-in-law, Larry Henckel and Denny Ault.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has been chosen. A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate her life.

Mary will be remembered for her warmth, curiosity, and the deep love she shared with her family.
