Mary Ellen Morgan

Mary Ellen Morgan, age 79, passed away at home with her family by her side in Jeffersonville, IN, on 22 May 2023. Born 6 Oct 1943 in Ironton, MN, she was the daughter of the late Ward Amil Mount and Celia Margaret (DeCent) Mount. She was a 1961 graduate of Crosby-Ironton High School, Crosby MN.  Upon graduating, she moved to Minneapolis, MN with her friend, Eleanor, finding employment in the secretarial pools.  In 1962, they both decided to move to Louisville, KY, where she met and married Douglas Vernon Morgan in Clarksville, IN, 17 Oct 1963.

Mary was a passionate gardener and a woman of deep faith. Each summer her garden was a fruitful cornucopia of tomatoes.  Lots and lots of tomatoes!  Plus, peppers, cucumbers, melons of every imaginable kind, and flowers. A god fearing woman, she was an avid student of the Bible, and though severely tested these last 13 years, she never complained and remained true to herself and her belief in God.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Brenda Heimer (John), of Sellersburg, IN, and two sisters, Judy Van Horn (Michael) of Crosby, MN, and Susan Edwards of Pella, IA, and one brother, Jim Mount of Crosby, MN, 2 grandsons, and many nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her son, Brian Douglas Morgan of Jeffersonville, IN, her husband, Douglas, her sister, Elsie Mount of Ironton, MN, and brother, David Ward Mount of Crosby, MN.

Mary was never one for formalities, always considered herself to be a homebody. As such we will be honoring her life with a brief memorial 25 May at 1:15pm at Scott Funeral Home, Jeffersonville IN, and a graveside service at 2pm at Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville, IN.
