Maxine F. Peterson Mittel

A funeral mass for Maxine F. Peterson Mittel, 70, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, will be held at 10 AM on Monday, July 27, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1840 E. 8th Street in Jeffersonville, with burial to follow in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-7 PM at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Pkwy in Jeffersonville, and on Monday from 9-10 AM at the church.  She passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at her home.   

Maxine was born on November 18, 1949 in New Albany, Indiana, to the late John F. Sr., and Margaret E. Kiesler-Peterson.  In 1972, Ms. Maxine Peterson married Richard C. Mittel Sr. in Jeffersonville, Indiana.  She graduated from Silver Creek High School and then worked at E&H Electric.  After starting a family, she worked as a homemaker and offered at home child care. Her love for children led her to become a teacher’s aide at Sacred Heart Catholic School and a teacher at St. Paul Pre-School. 

She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Richard C. Mittel Sr.; a daughter, Stacy Wisenski (Stephen), a son, Rick “Ricky” Mittel (Bobbie); four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Ryan Mittel, Sadie and Stosh Wisenski; two brothers, John Peterson (Sandy), Chuck Peterson (Debbie); several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, along with aunts, cousins, and extended family. 

Memorial contributions can be made to the MS Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and/or Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
