Michael Ogden Obituary

Michael Paul Ogden, fondly known as “Grumpy” to his grandchildren, aged 69, of St. Augustine, FL passed away peacefully on Friday June 17, 2022 in Louisville, KY. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 4-8 PM at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Pkwy in Jeffersonville.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Connie (Garbrough) Ogden; father, Bill Ogden, Sr., brothers Billy Ogden, Jr. and John Ogden, and sister Margaret Sparks.

Michael is survived by his wife of 42 years, Vicki Ogden (Williams), son Jody Ogden (Nicole Compton), daughters Jennifer Ogden and Hillary (Sang “Sam”) Lee, two beloved grandchildren William “Liam” and Eleanor “Nora” Lee, and a brother Thomas Ogden (Debbie).

Michael often told stories about growing up on the river in Jeffersonville, building a house with his brothers, playing guitar with his buddies, and having a nice childhood, despite being left behind at a rest stop on a family trip to California – thankfully they went back to get him!

He obtained his medical certification in orthotics and prosthetics from Northwestern University and he proudly worked in the field for many years. He enjoyed many weekends of fishing and, later in life, diving in the ocean. He loved the peace and serenity found under water and enjoyed taking pictures of the sea life.

For the last 15+ years he lived in St. Augustine, FL and enjoyed the closeness to the beach and ocean water. He (begrudgingly) traveled to Louisville to visit family. Despite his disdain for traveling back up north he took advantage of his trips by having Arni’s pizza or King Fish lunches with Jody and cherished family members and friends.  He was often found sharing popsicles with his grandson and watching his granddaughter’s dance moves. He was also asked to turn the TV down 25 times a day.

Michael’s unending kindness, calm words of wisdom, off color humor and unconditional love will be sorely missed by his family.
