Mike Tomlin

Richard Michael Tomlin, age 84, of Charlestown, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 25, 2025.

Mike was born in New Albany to the late Jarvis and Kathryn Tomlin. He was a member of Southeast Christian Church – Indiana Campus and he enjoyed time on the water fishing.

Mike was a husband, dad, and “Papa,” his greatest joy was witnessing the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Phyllis Tomlin; children, James VanGilder, D.D.S. (Stefani), Lynne Lanham, and Michael Tomlin (Cayce); and grandchildren, Eli, Josh, Dakota, Mayzie, Avery, Canton, Parker, and Piper. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Phyllis Hornback.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the service time on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville. A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with cremation to follow in accordance with his wishes.

Mike’s presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he gave will continue to shine brightly in the lives of his family and friends.
