Mildred Dorothy Wathen Gordon, nee Shouse, 94, passed away Friday, July 22, 2022. She was born in Louisville, KY September 3, 1927 to the late Alvin Hon and Lurli Shouse.
Mildred attended Indiana University Southeast, was an officer of the former Citizens Fidelity Bank in Louisville, and a real estate agent. She was a member of Kentuckiana Chef de Cuisine, Les Amis d’Escoffier Society, sponsored by Academy of Chefs, and a Kentucky Colonel.
Mildred was very organized, business-savvy, determined, and sharp as a tack until the very end. She enjoyed baking, gardening and sewing. Most of all, she was beloved “Nana.” She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren deeply and kept their heights marked proudly on her growth chart. She adored her little dog, and trusted companion for the last 12 years, Mia. While she will be dearly missed by her family, and her memory will continue to live on through stories shared and memories made.
In addition to her parents, Mildred is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Les Gordon; sisters, Mary Barrett, Norma Hedge, Barbara Whitley, and Helen Olson; and her brother, Alvin H. Shouse.
She is survived by a sister, Doris Oliver; her son, Michael Wathen; daughter Kathy Wathen; and stepdaughter Linda Gordon; her grandchildren, Rev. Kory (Amy) Wilcoxson, Sarah (Dan) Droppelman and Katie Raymond; and her great grandchildren, Sydney and Molly Wilcoxson, and Mary Alice and Will Droppelman.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 27 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Pkwy, Jeffersonville. Her funeral service will be Thursday morning at 10 am in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
