Mildred Bennett Spence (nee Harris)

Mildred Bennett Spence (nee Harris), affectionately known as “Millie,” was born in Louisville, KY, on June 17, 1937, to James and Mamie Harris (nee Kelly).  She was a lifelong resident of Jeffersonville.  Millie was a Christian by faith; at an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior.  On June 8, 2022, Millie passed away at Baptist Health Floyd.  She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. 

Millie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mamie Harris.  Brothers, King, Raymond, Frederick, and Russell Harris.  Sister Arneida Murphy and daughter Chrystal Lewis. 

She leaves to mourn her passing, her children, Cheryl Bennett, Beverly Bennett-Roberts (Gregory), Kevin Bennett (Frankie Yvonne), Kelle Bennett (Charles Hood), Paul Bennett (Barbara), Ericka Berry (Ray).  Adopted children, Sheldon and Erica Breckenridge. Sister, Lottie Robinson.  15 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, 5 Great-Great Grandchildren, three Sisters in Law and many foster children. 

Her family would like to thank the Baptist Health Floyd Hospital Nursing Staff of the second floor MIPS unit, NHU, and ICU for taking such excellent care of our mother.  A Special thanks to the Historic Villages of Silvercrest and Autumn Woods Health Campus staff for all of your care and attention to our mom. 

Visitation will be Friday, June 17 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville. Her funeral service will be at 1:00 in the chapel of the funeral home. A private burial will be Monday, June 20.
