A funeral service for Miranda Becht, 34, of New Albany, IN, will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, November 25, 2019 at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12 to 6 PM on Sunday and from 10 AM to 12 PM on Monday at the funeral home. She passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at her home.

Miranda was born on September 3, 1985 in New Albany, IN. She was a 2004 Graduate of Jeffersonville High School and then attended Indiana University Southeast where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics, Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking, with a Minor in Psychology.  There, her mentor and friend, Brian Harper, helped her become the artist she always knew she could be. She then attended the University of Louisville and earned a Master’s of Fine Arts in Sculpture allowing her to become a Professor of Fine Art at Bellarmine University where she’s been since 2017.  She loved to spend her free time vacationing on the beach, especially Carolina Beach in North Carolina.  She loved to dance, she loved fashion, and she loved bath time. 

Miranda is survived by her loving husband of 4 years, Philip Collins; father, Steven Becht; lifelong friend, Bobby Dawson; loving companion, Claudio; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Miranda was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth A. “Libbie” Becht; and uncle, Erv Martin.
