Norma Garvin Obituary

Norma Garvin, age 65, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024. A loving mother, devoted friend, and the heart of her family, Norma’s legacy will live on in the countless lives she touched.

Norma was the beloved mother of Amy Watts and Becky Lawson, who she loved with all her heart. As a woman of Baptist faith, she embodied kindness, strength, and compassion in all aspects of her life. Known affectionately as "Wonder Woman" by those closest to her, Norma was the steady anchor and radiant light that held her family together.

Her exceptional gift for cooking brought joy and comfort to family gatherings. Whether it was her mouthwatering meatloaf, flavorful stir fry, or the simplicity of spaghetti and garlic bread, Norma's dishes were more than meals—they were acts of love.

Norma’s life was marked by her remarkable resilience and zest for life. A proud cancer survivor since 1998, she inspired those around her with her strength and courage. She had a deep affection for the classic television show Gunsmoke and could often be found engrossed in its timeless stories. Norma was also a staple at the local bingo hall, where her lively presence and warm camaraderie made her a cherished friend to many in the community.

Norma will be remembered most as the "sunshine" in everyone’s day, always quick to brighten a room with her warm smile and caring nature. Her family and friends will forever cherish the moments spent in her presence, where her laughter and love created memories to last a lifetime.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hughie and Carole Ramsey; and her husband, Jay Garvin.

She is survived by her daughters, Amy (Jon) and Becky (Audraeanna); her fur-babies, Harvey and Lynkn; siblings, Debra Lynn Ramsey, Matthew Wayne Ramsey, and James Michael Ramsey;

Visitation for Norma will be held from 12-4 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Scott Funeral Home, located at 2515 Veterans Parkway in Jeffersonville. Funeral services in honor of her life will be celebrated 4 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the funeral home, with cremation to follow.
