Patricia Kay McCartin Pearson, age 86, passed away at home peacefully on December 30, 2025, following a day surrounded by the love and comfort of her family, friends, and loved ones. Pat’s life was one defined by faith, devotion, resilience, kindness, generosity, and an abiding love for those she held dear.
Born in Hamburg, Indiana, she was the cherished daughter of the late Peter Bernard and Alberta Dorothy McCartin. She was a proud graduate of the Providence High School class of 1957, a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and retired as the Chief Deputy Clerk for the Jeffersonville Township Trustee’s Office. From an early age, Pat carried with her a strong sense of family and an unwavering determination and strength that would guide her throughout her life and health battles for the last 21 years.
Pat was the beloved matriarch of her family, often serving as both the heart and the catalyst for bringing family and friends together. Her home was a place of welcome, warmth, laughter, and unforgettable meals, where memories were made and traditions were lovingly passed down. She was, in every sense, the glue that held her family close.
The epitome of a Renaissance woman, Pat raised her three children during the 1970s as a single mother, a role she embraced with remarkable strength and grace. Her ability to provide cherished moments, memorable family meals, and a Catholic education for her children stood as a powerful testament to her faith and resilience. Through sacrifice and steadfast love, she instilled values that would shape generations.
In her later years, Pat found great joy playing Bunco, Texas Hold ‘Em, participating in the Senior Games, and time spent on the pickleball court. She was an avid pickleball player long before the sport captured the nation’s attention. Her energy, competitive spirit, and willingness to try something new reflected her lifelong curiosity and zest for living. Proudly Irish and deeply rooted in her Catholic faith, Pat’s beliefs guided her actions and anchored her family through every season of life.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her children, Kim Calabro (Ron), Mark Pearson (Robyn Brown), and Shelly Pearson; her grandchildren, Kelsey Calabro (Ben Spencer), Samantha Johnston (Jesse), Carley Calabro (Bradley Cross), and Spencer Pearson; great grandson, Carter Johnston; her daughter-in-law, Susan Pearson; her sister, Mary Lou Travis (Don); and her sisters-in-law, Judy White and Betty Ann Crace (Bill).
In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her siblings, Charlie White, Ann Friess (Bobby), and Bob McCartin (Rita).
