Obituary

Paul Ray Lee died on September 1, 2023 at home in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Paul was born December 21, 1920 in Campbellsburg, Indiana, the second child of Harry Clyde and Flona V. (Rosenbaum) Lee.

He served as a pilot in the Army Air Corps (now U.S. Air Force) during World War II in the 9th Troop Carrier Command. After military service, he worked for Standard Oil of Indiana before establishing his own business, Lee Oil Co., Inc., later known as LeeAmerica Corporation. Paul was baptized at Sugar Creek Christian Church in Saltillo, Indiana. After moving to Jeffersonville, he was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and First Christian Church, but always considered Sugar Creek to be his church home. He was a past president of Rotary Club, and a member of Toastmasters International. He was also a member of the Freemasons, Mitchell Lodge. He served on the board of the Jeffersonville Public Library and the Southern Indiana Rehabilitation Center.

In addition to his parents, Paul is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mary Eloise (Appel) Lee, and a step-son, Quentin Randall Davis, his siblings and their spouses, Roy and Mae Lee, Wilber and Esther Chastain, Gene and Virginia Brown and Ethel Louise Lee, and one nephew, Larry Dean Brown.

He is survived by his daughter, Marcia Lee Harlow (Robert S., Jr.), a grand-daughter, Olivia Lee Harlow (Daniel W. Hermanns), and many nieces and nephews, including Christine Joiner Chapman, who lived with the Lee family for several years.

Visitation will be held at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Pkwy, Jeffersonville, IN, on Friday, September 15, from 4:00 to 7:00, and again at Weathers Funeral Home, 106 S. Shelby St., Salem, IN on Saturday, September 16, from 9:30-11:00 with Funeral Services to follow at 11:00. Burial will be at Cavetown Cemetery.
