Philip Wayne Morris, 69, of Clarksville, IN passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27th, surrounded by his three daughters. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, quiet strength, and legendary cookouts for the whole family.
Born to Bob and Lois Morris on October 2nd, 1956, he was praised as the world’s most beautiful baby. After graduating from Clarksville High school, he proudly served in the United States Air Force, rising in rank to Senior Airman with Strategic Air Command - Security Police Squadron, where he trained the military K-9’s. He developed a life long love for dogs and had several beloved canines throughout his life, most notably - Sheeba, D’Artagnan, and Bo.
His family and friends will remember him for his unwavering support of IU basketball, his love for golf and great music, his appreciation for a good joke, and his work ethic. But most of all his love of being surrounded by those he cherished. Phil loved to share his excellent cooking skills inspired by his time in Italy by hosting cookouts and dinners for his family and friends often. No one loved a day of grilling and an evening at the dining room table playing Rook more than Phil Morris.
He leaves behind his loving mother, Lois Morris; his caring daughters, Andrea (Micky), Brittany (Ryan), and Candice (Kendall); his treasured grandchildren, Cayleigh, Isabel, and Owen; his devoted siblings, Karen (Marvin), Mike (Kathy), Kathy, Greg (Liz), and Kerri; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Bob Morris and his brother in law, Chuck Edelen and his half siblings, Jimmy Morris and Rosie Morris.
On February 13, 2025, Phil placed his trust in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. In a moment of clarity and grace, Phil acknowledged his need to redemption and embraced the mercy and forgiveness found at the foot of the cross. He humbly received the gift of salvation, finding peace in God’s promises, hope in eternal life, and joy in the victory of Jesus over sin and death. Today, with confidence rooted in faith, we rejoice in knowing that Phil is in the presence of his Savior - fully healed and more alive than ever before. Phil’s story has not ended — it has been redeemed.
