Phyllis Ann Dorman was born December 20, 1936 in Sellersburg to Lawrence J. & Myra Leach Dorman. She passed on July 5, 2024 at the age of 87. She was the youngest of 5 children. The family moved to Jeffersonville where she attended school and graduated from Jeffersonville High School in 1955.
Phyllis worked for Naval Ordinance in Louisville until 1968 when she accepted a position at Pepperdine University in Los Angeles. She rose to the position of administrative assistant to the President. She also worked at Oklahoma University and Gaylord Entertainment in Dallas before moving back to LA in 1988 to work for National Medical Enterprises and then back to Pepperdine from which she retired.
She is a member of the Hamburg Pike Church of Christ after having worshiped and served the Lord in each of her places of residence.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Mary Pearson Schickli and Olive Dorman, her brothers Lawrence Robert and Richard Kenneth Dorman, and nieces Patricia Pearson, Anna Belle Dawson, and Myra Jo Cleary. She is survived by her nieces and a nephew: Lois(Bill) Cravens, Mary Mayfield, Millie(Ronnie) Queen, Teddi (Robert) Budy, Robin(Marc) Owens, Melody(Don) Corner, Michael Dorman and a host of great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Pkwy, on Friday, July 12 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm with her funeral service at 1:00. Burial will follow in Sellersburg Cemetery.
