Rachel Leigh Hamilton (Strohbeck), 48, of Georgetown, IN passed away unexpectedly on August 12, 2025 in New Albany, IN. She was born in Louisville, KY on August 29, 1976 to David Lee Wyatt and Mary McGough.
Rachel grew up in Lanesville, IN after Mary and Bill Strohbeck were married. She was adopted by Bill soon after. Rachel mentioned memories of playing outside in the fields and riding her horse, Dusty, around her childhood home. She was a loving mother, daughter, and girlfriend. Rachel was a kind and sweet person and was welcoming to all she met and could strike up a conversation with anyone.
Rachel cherished her children with all her heart. She loved being a mother. She would do everything in her power for her children. She tried her best to create memories for them by making everything special. She handmade dresses, Halloween costumes, and assisted with cosplay outfits with any necessary hair and make up flourishes. She encouraged reading and writing passions. She enjoyed taking them to museums and zoos. Rachel also spent time making special memories with her life partner, Brendan. They did just about everything together and enjoyed many inside jokes, quiet nights, and supporting each other.
She enjoyed storytelling, conversation, road trips, travel, gardening, loved music and going to concerts. She was interested in learning about science, medicine, nature, and astronomy. She often got a kick out of sharing random facts of things she had learned to her loved ones. Rachel was a talented artist and enjoyed cosmetology. She loved animals, especially horses. Her greatest joy was spending time with loved ones.
Rachel spent many hours sitting on her porch where she visited with family and friends. She frequently would point out which stars and planets were in the night sky. She enjoyed taking care of her flowers and plants, and she received many compliments on their beauty.
She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter Cassidy Alexandra Hamilton (fiancé Zach Farmer), son Victor Elliot Hamilton, parents Bill and Mary Strohbeck; brother Ryan Strohbeck (Ashton), and life partner, Brendan Brown. She is preceded in death by her father David Wyatt.
Rachel’s life was cut short, but she brought joy to many. She was quick to smile and share a laugh. She provided words of encouragement and wisdom of experience. Rachel was a proponent of hugs and making sure you knew you were loved. Rachel had a big heart and a beautiful soul. She is loved, and she will be truly missed.
