Rebecca Ann Hannon, age 80, peacefully passed away on December 19, 2024, at her home in Charlestown, IN, with her family at her side.
Becky was born June 4th, 1944, in New Albany, IN, to Elmer T. and Annabelle (Anderson) Harmon. She was active in New Albany High School’s Sub Deb sorority and graduated from NAHS in 1962. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Albany. She was a former member of the Beta Sigma Phi philanthropic sorority. During the 1980s, she was the Secretary of the New Washington High School Multi-Purpose School Building Corporation and an officer of the then George Rogers Clark (GRC) Little League. She also served many years on the original Jeffersonville Steamboat Days planning committee. She was a former member of The Women of the Moose Lodge 1757 in Sellersburg, IN and an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit, Post 204, Sellersburg, IN. Becky worked in many aspects of the medical field for decades. She ultimately retired from Anesthesiologist Associates of Southern Indiana in 2003. Becky was passionate about traveling with her family throughout her life, which took her all over the United States and Canada. She also loved spending time with her grandkids, whether picking them up after school and taking them to different events or just for a quick lunch date, usually followed by a not-so-quick shopping trip. Becky was incredibly proud of all her son's and grandchildren's personal and professional accomplishments. If there were ever a time to brag, she would without hesitation.
Becky was preceded in death by her husbands, Don E. Hannon, Thomas O. Wilham; her parents, Elmer and Annabelle; her brother, Thomas A. Harmon, sister Betty L. Byrd, brother-in-law Terry Byrd, niece Laura Byrd-VanCleave; nephew Scott T. Harmon, and daughter-in-law Angie L. Hannon.
She is survived by her sons, Tom Hannon (Sarah), Sullivan, IN, Shaun Hannon (Jackie), Bob Hannon (Stacy Austin), and Jim Hannon (Trish), all of Jeffersonville, IN, and Bill Hannon (Jennifer) of Borden, IN. Her grandchildren Kate King (Hunter) Sullivan, IN; Betsy Field (Dylan) of Sullivan, IN; Jake Hannon (Sarah) of New Albany, IN; Sam Hannon (Kaylie) of Georgetown, IN; Morgan Hannon (Jordan Schultz) Charlestown, IN; Madison Fischer (Nick) of New Washington, IN; Taylor and Izzy Hannon of Borden, IN and Hadley O. Hannon of Jeffersonville, IN. Also, her great-grandchildren, Paisley & Easton Hannon, Jackson and Olivia Hannon, Charlie and Baby Fischer, and Thomas Hannon. Her loving sister Susan Applegate (Rod) of Jeffersonville, IN, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Long-time friend, confidant, and caregiver Kathy H. Stiles, Hardinsburg, IN.
Lastly, Becky is survived by her loving partner, Don Keeney of Charlestown, IN, and his family, with whom she profoundly loved and shared many great years of companionship. Becky’s sons would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Don for his unconditional love, support, and care for their mom, especially in her later years.
Visitation will be held 2-8 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2024, and Saturday, December 28, 2024, 10 a.m.-11 a.m. at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway – Jeffersonville. Funeral services will follow Saturday’s visitation, beginning at 11 a.m., and concluding with burial at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, IN.
