(Ret) Captain Timothy Charles Conlen "Timmy," passed away on October 12, 2024, at the age of 67. A dedicated firefighter, business owner, and family man, Timmy lived a life of service and devotion. He was born on January 4, 1957, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Charles "Charlie" and Elizabeth Jean "Betty" Conlen.
Timmy proudly served as a firefighter with the Jeffersonville Fire Department for 34 and a half years, reaching the rank of captain before his retirement. He was known for his bravery, leadership, and commitment to protecting those around him. His passion extended beyond his firefighting career, as he became the owner of several successful businesses, including Fat Boys NASCAR Collectibles, Conlen Auction Service, and Captain’s Sports & Collectibles.
Timmy’s greatest joy in life was being a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Penny Renee Conlen; his children, Andrew (Megan) Conlen, Ashley (Anthony) Brown and Amanda (Mychal) Hines. He was the proud and devoted grandfather of Brooklyn Conlen, Addisyn Conlen, Xavier Hines, and Destiny Hines, who were the light of his life.
He is also survived by his brothers, Chuck and Scott (Brandie) Conlen; sister-in-law, Marcia (Ricky) Schaaf, and his nieces, Lexi Conlen, Kamryn and Madalyn Conlen.
In addition to his parents, Timmy was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Conlen.
Timmy will be remembered for his loving spirit, love of UK basketball, his sense of humor, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. His legacy as a brave firefighter and devoted family man will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Visitation will be at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville on Thursday, October 17 from 12:00 to 8:00 pm and again on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 am, with his funeral at 11:00 in the chapel of the funeral home. There will be a masonic service on Thursday evening at 7:00.
