Richard Alexander Obituary

Richard Earl Alexander passed into eternal life on Thursday, March 19, 2026.  He lived a life full of family and friends and leaves behind a legacy of love.

Richard was born to Earl Morton Alexander and Anna Mae Alexander on December 31, 1951 in Jeffersonville, Indiana.  He stayed his whole life in his hometown and grew up loving his Indiana Hoosiers.

Rich was an industrious man who worked his way up at INB Bank from sweeping floors, to Vice President of Commercial Loans. He valued hard work, even earning his Master's degree from Bellarmine College.

He led an adventurous life. From traveling to scuba diving, skiing and more.  When he met his wife, Terrie, he traded all that in for a different  adventure. Along with his new wife he now had 4 children. Melissa Brown (Chris), Olivia East (Carrie), Jonathan Hartman (Andrea), and Scarlet Cormack (Jack).  The adventures continued as he became PawPaw to Emma Brown, Abby Brown, Ethan Hartman, Grace Pereiro, Oliver Pereiro, Rorie Brown, Brooklyn Hartman, Xander Pereiro, Iz-Z Fletcher, and Lily Hartman.

His love story with Terrie was one that transcended space and time. No man has ever loved a woman the way Rich loved Terrie and he did whatever he could to show her that love every day.

His love for family did not stop at grandchildren. He was a brother to Bonnie Kinzer (Paul) of Clarksville IN, Ronald Lee Alexander (Nancy) of Bossier City, LA, and Rita Kathryn Hulvershorn (Tom) of Indianapolis, IN. He was a doting uncle to his nieces and nephews. He had a tremendous love for his many dogs throughout the years, most recently, his faithful companion, Pete.

Everyone seems to have a funny story involving Rich. From accidentally throwing his grandfather off a hay wagon, to pole dancing at the Orlando Airport, Rich was fun, even hosting tea parties for his grandchildren.

Steadfast and prudent, Rich always made sure everyone knew they were loved and cared for.  He spent many an hour quietly holding his grandbabies in his favorite chair, making sure they would sleep soundly.

Of all the things he loved on this Earth, he most valued his relationship with God.

Appreciating a full life like Rich's calls for reflection with those he held dear.  His visitation will be at Scott Funeral Home in Jeffersonville, IN on Thursday, March 26, 2026 from 2:00-6:00 pm with the funeral taking place at 6:00 pm.

In honor of Rich, donations can be made to the the greyhound dog rescue, Greyt Angels in Goshen IN at wwwgreytangels.org
