Richard C. Mittel, Sr.

A funeral Mass for Richard C. Mittel Sr., 74, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1840 E. 8th Street in Jeffersonville, with burial to follow in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-7 PM at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway in Jeffersonville, and on Saturday from 9-10 AM at the funeral home. He passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024 at his home.

Richard was born on May 27, 1949 in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Raymond C. and Lizabeth F. Mittel. In 1972, Richard Mittel married Maxine Peterson in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He graduated from Bishop David High School and then worked as a warehouseman at the Kroger Distribution Center. He enjoyed the outdoors, spending time with family and friends and was an avid Kentucky basketball fan. Additionally, he served proudly in the Army Reserve.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Maxine F. Mittel. He is survived by his daughter, Stacy Wisenski (Stephen), a son, Rick “Ricky” Mittel (Bobbie); four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Ryan Mittel, Sadie and Stosh Wisenski; siblings, Joseph R. Mittel (Leslie), Dr. Linda Mittel, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, along with cousins, and extended family.

Memorial contributions can be made to Wounded Warriors and/or Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
