Robert "Bob" Guy Barley

Robert "Bob" Guy Barley, 87, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 23, 2024. Bob was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in the thrill of panfishing for his beloved bluegill, hunting, and cheering on Indiana University basketball. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, and Papaw whose warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie and McKinley Barley; brother, Bud Barley; sisters, Joyce McLemore, Maxine Eskew, Helen Terrell, and Pauline Petty; and granddaughter, Katie Thompson.

Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley Harbison Barley; his children, Susan McCane, Kevin Barley (Linda), and Leigh Ann Thompson; his brother, Buck Barley (Brenda); and his sister-in-law, Joyce Barley. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Danielle Barley, Tayler Barley, Alexandra McCane, Luke Thompson (Sarah), Josh Thompson, Leah Thompson, and Shannon Shephard; and his great-grandchildren, McKinley, Kiera, Kamielle, Jaxton, Penny, Bentley, Henry, Joshua, Myracle, and Elliott.

Bob’s family will welcome friends and loved ones for visitation on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home, located at 2515 Veterans Parkway in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Funeral services honoring his life will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with cremation to take place afterward.
