Ronald J. Lang Sr., 75, of Clarksville, Indiana passed away on December 26, 2020. He was born on July 1, 1945 at St. Anthony Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, as the first of four sons of the late Richard “Dick” and LaVerne Lang.
Ron was Vice-President of the Georgetown High School senior class of 1963. He was also commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel.
Ron was a Vietnam-era veteran that served in the Aerospace Medical Division of the Air Force from 1963-1965. Upon his honorable discharge, Ron returned home where he built a career as an independent car dealer. He was talented and relished in the making of deals, buying and selling of cars, which he would do so for the remainder of his 55 years of life.
Although Ron struggled with alcoholism, he passed away sober, with more than 27 years of sobriety. He was deeply devoted to helping other poor souls struggling with alcoholism and credited “an attitude of gratitude” for enabling him to do what he simply would say was “just the next right thing.”
Ron’s passing joyously reunites him with his youngest son, Anthony Lang, who passed at an early age in 2001.
Ron is survived by his children, Ed Lang (Cheri) of Louisville, KY, Denise Conway of New Albany, IN, Ron Lang Jr. (Nora) of Harlingen, TX, James Lang (Stephanie) of Greenville, IN, and Tom Lang (Vanessa) of Murchison, TX; 10 grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations be made to support The Healing Place, at 1020 W. Market St., Louisville KY 40202 or online at www.TheHealingPlace.org.
