Ronald James Schuur, born on October 2, 1943, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at his residence in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
Ron was truly one of a kind—a really great guy who will be remembered for his warm heart, unwavering loyalty to family, and his passion for life. A huge Indiana University fan, he rarely missed a game or sporting event, especially when it involved supporting his children and grandchildren. In his younger years, Ron loved coaching his kids’ baseball teams and was affectionately known by many as simply “Coach.” He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling, and playing softball. Family always came first, and he took great pride in being present and supportive in every chapter of their lives.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carolyn Schuur; his children, Staci Schuur, Nicole Bader (Imad), and Jason Schuur; his cherished grandchildren, Jodi (Morgan), Jessi (Brandon), Christopher, Jason, and Juliette (Nathan); and his beloved great-grandchildren, Zeke, Renezmae, Oakley, and Amarah, with another great-grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his siblings, Shirley Creasy (Terry) and Debi Brenton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Leetis Schuur; his sister, Janet King; and his grandson, Dylan Coulter.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home, located at 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130. A funeral service will take place on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
Ron James Schuur will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, “Coach,” and friend will live on in the countless lives he touched.
