Rosalie “Hoppie” Edna Wietholter, 76, a woman of personality, grace, and great humor, traded her earthly farm boots for celestial wings on December 19, 2024. Born in the charming town of Loveland, Ohio, to the late Paul Anthony and Mary Louise Wietholter, Hoppie entered this world on a cold winter day ready to blaze trails, tame wild machinery, and leave pawprints on hearts everywhere.
Hoppie lived a life deeply rooted in the values of her upbringing. She was known for her culinary prowess and her beloved potato salad, pea salad, and deviled eggs were a family favorite.
An accomplished forklift operator, Hoppie was also a dedicated retiree of the United States Census Bureau. Her work ethic and determination were matched only by her love for the simpler joys of life. Growing up on a farm, she embraced her identity as a true country girl at heart, cherishing the outdoors and the tranquility of rural living.
Hoppie's passion for the outdoors defined her life. Whether cutting down trees, tending to her land, or caring for her many beloved fur babies, she found joy and purpose in the natural world. Her vibrant stories of farm life and her nurturing heart touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Survivors include her life partner of 37 years, Kim Wennekamp; sister, Ruth Ann Goularte (David); brother, Louis Wietholter; nieces, Tonya Wietholter and Sara Pike; great nephews, Shawn Wietholter (Sam) and James Wietholter; great-great niece and nephew, Maddie and Everett; and good friend, Debbie Osborne.
In honoring Hoppie's wishes, the family has chosen cremation. A memorial visitation will be held 12 - 3 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway. A memorial service in her honor of her life will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the funeral home.
Hoppie will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her warmth, and her boundless love for nature and animals. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and strength that will endure in the hearts of all who knew her.
We always teased Hoppie for being a legend in her own mind. Today, we are all officially promoting her as a legend in our minds too!
