Ruth Caldwell

Ruth Caldwell passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025, at Lincoln Hills Health Center, surrounded by the quiet love of those who held her dear. Born May 8, 1943, in Santa Monica, California, to the late Vaden and Olive Richards, Ruth lived a life marked by warmth, faith, and gentle strength.

A longtime and devoted member of Christ Gospel Church International, Ruth’s life was a reflection of her steadfast faith and commitment to loving others well. Known for her quick wit and laid-back spirit, she had a way of making people feel comfortable and seen—always ready with a clever remark or a calming word.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her dear siblings, Carol Anne Karcher and Carol Sue Richards, whose memories she cherished deeply.

Left to carry her light are her beloved husband of 29 years, Daniel C. Caldwell; her daughters Lorell (Gabriel) Bedevian and Amy Lynn Poehls; and her cherished bonus daughters Christine Caldwell, Nicole (Eric) Shaffer, and Jasmine (Norman) Bartley. Ruth was also a proud and loving grandmother to eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her tremendous joy and pride.

A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at her church home, Christ Gospel Church. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., with funeral services following at 12:00 p.m. Burial at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery will take place at a later date.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Lincoln Hills Health Center for their compassionate care. Arrangements have been entrusted to Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway – Jeffersonville.

Ruth’s legacy is one of love, faith, and a quiet, enduring grace. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
