Sandra “Kay” Vaughn

Celebration of life services for Sandra "Kay" Vaughn, 78, Jeffersonville will be held at 5pm on Monday, January 30th, at Scott Funeral Home, North Chapel, Jeffersonville.

Kay transitioned to her next adventure on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at the Norton Pavilion Hosparus Unit. Kay was born to George and Becky Rubsam and after high school, she married the love of her life, James Vaughn, and they settled in northern Indiana.

Born to Jim and Kay were two sons, Brian and Darin, and the four lived on a farm in Newton County, raising livestock, gardening, participating in the community, and following all sports, especially the Indiana Hoosiers. Kay loved to tell stories about their time on the farm, especially her impressive gardens and her love for animals. Jim and Kay were married for more than 50 years and had a wonderful life together.

She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Jim, and her son Brian. Survivors include her son, Darin, who worked hard to make sure his mom was able to live independently and attend many sporting events. Kay is also survived by Darin’s wife, Beth Keeney, and their children, Gabrielle Anne and Ainsley Grace. Being a grandmother was her biggest joy, and Kay loved to indulge her granddaughters without question or apology to their parents. Kay is also survived by her brother in law, Bob Vaughn, cousin, Pam Claxton Carroll (Ron), her close friend Ann Larson (Hugh), nieces and nephews, and the entire Keeney family.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 PM on Monday, January 30, 2023, at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, IN, with a procession to Walnut Ridge Cemetery on Tuesday, January 31st at 11am.  Visitation will be held on Monday, January 30st from 3 to 5 PM. 
 

Kay was an advocate for better mental health resources, and the family asks for donations to the LifeSpring Foundation of Indiana in lieu of flowers.
