Sarah Strong Schowe

Sarah Strong Schowe, 86, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Sunday, January 8, 2023. She was born December 5, 1936, to the late William Bruce and Katharine Strong.

She was happily married to the love of her life, Glenn, for 52 years. Traveling the world with Glenn, reading, gardening, playing bridge, and “antiquing” were her favorite hobbies. Giving back to the community was also important to her. After retiring from teaching math for almost 40 years, she volunteered at a food pantry and tutored students in English. She couldn’t go anywhere in Jeffersonville without a student recognizing her and exclaiming how much they loved her as a teacher. She was an active member of her church her entire life, most recently of Florence Christian Church.

In addition to her parents, Sarah is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Schowe and sister, Jane Strong Estrada. She is survived by her daughter, Hallie (Jim) Esposito; granddaughter, Brooklyn; sister, Kathie (Carl) Booth; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, IN, on Friday, January 13, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm with the funeral at 1:00 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.
