Scott Leslie Drake, 55, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on January 2, 2021, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was born on February 24, 1965 in Midland, Michigan to Charles Drake and Barbara Filcek, who both predeceased him.
Scott graduated from Western High School in 1983 and attended Delta College. Scott worked for Arby’s for 25 years throughout the Tri-city area. After moving to Clarksville, Indiana in 2013, he started a new career path at Roederer Correctional Complex working with Aramark and in the business office as an accountant.
On August 7, 1999, he married the love of his life, Charity Phillips, in Midland. They were blessed with 23 wonderful years together. Scott loved his family dearly and was proud of his three sons; Joshua, Devon and Derrick and daughter-in law, Karen. He was especially thrilled when he became a grandpa with the arrival of granddaughters Zelda and Zoe, whom he adored. He also had a passion for hunting, motorcycles and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan.
He is survived by his wife, Charity, sons Devon (Karen) Drake and Derrick Drake. Granddaughters Zelda, age 4, and Zoe Drake, age 1. Also surviving are his grandmother Ruth Emerson, sister Michele (Anthony) Borton, several aunts and cousins.
Scott was preceded in death by his grandfather Leslie Emerson, son, Joshua Drake, several aunts and uncles.
The family would like to thank Diane Poteet, RN at Clark Memorial Hospital, for her support provided to Charity, Devon and Derrick. The overwhelming kindness that has been received from the Department of Corrections has been much appreciated as well.
A private family gathering has taken place and arrangements have been entrusted to Scott Funeral Home in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Scott’s family in support of a fund for his granddaughters.
