Sharon Rudd

Sharon (Amburgey) Rudd, 75, of Jeffersonville, Indiana passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Autumn Woods Health Campus in New Albany, Indiana. She was born on September 16, 1945 in Mallie, Kentucky the daughter of the late James Arnold and Dessie (Smith) Amburgey. Sharon graduated from Carr Creek High School in Knott County, Kentucky in 1963. She also earned her Bachelor of Education and Master of Education degrees plus thirty hours from Indiana University Southeast. Sharon’s passion was in teaching and she retired from Jefferson County Schools after many years of dedicated service. She was very involved in the life of First Presbyterian Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana where she was a member. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Jeffersonville Jaycee Wives. Sharon was active in the community with City Pride, Taste of Jeffersonville, 4th of July Parade, and 3-2-1 Read. Sharon loved to make things happen, whether with her community involvement or planned trips and activities with her friends. She was always eager to host gatherings, and in her spare time enjoyed reading, quilting, volunteering in the classrooms of all of her grandchildren, and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, James Rudd; brothers, Jesse Lee and Warren “Geedie” Amburgey; and grandson, Alexander James Simonis. She is survived by her daughters; Becky Herald(Jeff), Jenny Davis(Derek), Alecia Simonis(Tom); 8 grandchildren, Brian, Andrew and Emma Herald, Isaiah, Jonah, and Dara Simonis, Ethan and Eliza Davis.

There will be a visitation held on Thursday, February 18, 2021 from 4-8pm at Scott Funeral Home at 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130. Her funeral service will be on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 11am at First Presbyterian Church, 222 Walnut St., Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130 with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery. The funeral service will also be broadcast on Facebook Live on First Presbyterian Church - Jeffersonville, IN.
