Sheila Gale (Jones) Stopher

Sheila Gale Stopher, 72, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, December 2, 2024, at her home. Sheila was a beloved wife, devoted mother, and cherished Grandmama, who leaves behind a legacy of love, care, and unwavering dedication to her family.

Born in Madisonville, Kentucky, to the late Wallace and Betty Jones, Sheila's life was defined by her compassion and selflessness. Her love for children extended beyond her own family through her years of work as a Nanny, where she became a second mother to many and left an indelible mark on countless lives.

Sheila found the love of her life, John Stopher, at a Parents Without Partners dance, and together they shared 45 beautiful years of marriage. Their love was a testament to the power of second chances and enduring partnership.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Robert Jones.

Sheila’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, John, and her children, Vincent Stopher, Bettie Jo Hatfield, John Stopher, and Charles Hatfield (Shelley). Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Colin, Sierra, Kaya, Christina, Brittany, Vince, Darian, Haylie, Ty, Adrionna, Lacey, and Allyson, all of whom she adored and doted on with her whole heart.

Her family has honored Sheila’s wish for cremation, celebrating her life and the love she shared with everyone she touched. Sheila's memory will forever live in the hearts of her loved ones, who will continue to draw inspiration from her warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to family. A memorial celebration will be arranged at a later date.

Memorial services in celebration of her life will be celebrated 12 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Kingdom Life Church 11515 US-31, Sellersburg, IN
