Shirley A. Willis

Shirley A. Willis, 86 died on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. She was born July 23, 1938 in Louisville, KY to the late Thomas and Mattie (Mattingly) Thurman.

She graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1957. She worked at the Indiana Army Ammunition Plant for over 23 years and The Census Bureau. Shirley and her husband enjoyed watching I.U. Basketball and Cincinnati Reds games and they loved spending time with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Shirley was a member of Rolling Fields Baptist Church. She loved her family and we all loved her and she will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Survivors include her son, Mark Andrews of Cincinnati, Ohio; daughter, Linda Elsmore (Eric) of Jeffersonville, Indiana; stepson, Tony Willis of Carmel, Indiana; stepson, Tracy Willis (Kathy) of Greenville South Carolina; grandchildren, Brittany Coffaro (Tony), Amy Andrews (Niv), Jake Andrews, Bradley Elsmore, (Kristin); Katie Long (Charles); Todd Elsmore, Emily Willis, Ellen Brenner (Isiah), Alyssa Willis and great grandchildren, Lucy Long, Nora and Quinn Coffaro; nephew, Danny King (Darlene), Louisville, Kentucky; niece Sherrie Jones (Chris) of Henryville, Indiana; nephew Drue King (Amy), Louisville, Kentucky. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband David Joe Willis, and her sister Christine King of Lanesville, IN.

Shirley's family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice for their loving and devoted care. A special thanks to Heidi, Jimmie, Billy, Toni, and Amy for your kindness to mom and our family.

Visitation will be on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway in Jeffersonville, from 11:30a.m. to 1:00p.m. with the funeral to start at 1:00p.m. Burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery will follow the funeral. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of donors choice.
