Sue Ellen Jones

Sue Ellen Jones, 94, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, her wedding anniversary, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 13, 1931 she was a native of Laconia, Indiana, and was the daughter of the late John and Louise Ashton.

Sue Ellen’s greatest joy was her family. She loved nothing more than spending time with family, attending the events of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was a proud supporter of the Jeffersonville High School Red Devils. She was known for her thoughtfulness, kindness, and warm personality that made everyone feel welcome in her presence.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Wright (Mike), Cynthia Underwood, and Johnna Anderson (Steve); her grandchildren, Melissa Mink, Joshua Mink, Emily Hatton (Steve), Chad Wright (Lindsay), Erika Starck (Drew), and Darian Underwood; great-grandchildren, Lilly, Langdon, Luke, Cameron (Abigail), Rosemary, Ashton, Carter, Riliegh, Anthony, Chloe, and Maddy; and great-great-grandchildren, Remi and Heath. She also leaves behind her sisters, Patricia Biddle and Eleanor Palmer (Richard) and numerous extended family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John E. Jones; her daughter, Judith L. Mink; her brother, John M. Ashton; her great-grandson, Caleb Mink; and other grandchildren lost in miscarriage.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, Indiana. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A private burial is planned for immediate family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sue Ellen’s memory to St. Croix Hospice, the American Lung Association, or Ovarian Cancer Research.
