Sylvia Grant Obituary

With grateful hearts, we celebrate the beautiful life of Sylvia Marie Grant, who passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Sylvia lived a life of unwavering faith, purpose, compassion, joy leaving a legacy that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

From an early age, Sylvia developed a passion for music and ministry. As a teenager, she traveled throughout the country singing with gospel choirs, sharing her faith through song. She remained devoted to music throughout her life and faithfully served as Vice President of the Louisville Choral Union, where her leadership and love of music inspired many.

Sylvia enjoyed a successful 25-year career as an Advertising Executive with The Courier-Journal before beginning another meaningful chapter as the owner of Sylvia's Kids Daycare. There, she lovingly cared for generations of children and became affectionately known as "Mimi." Her warm hugs, kind words, and nurturing spirit made a lasting impact on countless families.

Sylvia never met a stranger. She loved bringing people together with home-cooked meals, laughter, heartfelt conversations, and an open door. Her greatest joy, however, was her only child, Tiffany Elaine Wess, whom she loved unconditionally and supported with unwavering devotion.

Sylvia's life was a testimony of faith, kindness, generosity, and service. Though her voice is now silent, the songs she sang, the children she nurtured, and the countless lives she touched will continue to echo for generations.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughter, Tiffany Elaine Wess; her sister, Deborah and Phillip Grant-Wesley ; her brothers, Robert and Rosalind Grant, Jimmy Grant, Joey and Rhonda Grant, Tony and Stacy Grant ; her cherished grandchildren, Devin, Anjia, Alia, Michael and Malik; her treasured great-grandchildren, Laila, Alana, and Kingston; nephews, Brandon, Tyrone and Niesha, Jamie and Kari, along with a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Clara Oglesby-Grant; her brother, Mark Grant; her sister-in-law, Celesta Grant; her stepmother, Myrtle Grant; her nephew, Marlon Grant and her beloved great-grandson, Malaki Shackleford.

Sylvia will be deeply missed, but her legacy of faith, love, and compassion will continue to shine through all who were blessed to know her. We celebrate a life well lived, a heart well loved, and a woman who made the world brighter simply by being in it.

"Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your Lord."
Matthew 25:23
