Tammy Reneé Anderson Bentz, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025, at Hosparus Health in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Madison, Indiana, on October 1, 1959, Tammy lived a life defined by love, compassion, dedication, and quiet strength.
A woman of remarkable character and boundless heart, Tammy was known for her good-natured spirit, strong work ethic, and unwavering kindness. Her warmth and generosity touched all who knew her, leaving a legacy of love and service that will continue to inspire.
Tammy took immense pride in her role as a corrections officer at Madison Women's Correctional Facility, where she worked for the past ten years. Her commitment to her job and her compassion for those around her made a lasting impact. She also co-owned several beloved local businesses—including That Book Place, Karen’s Book Barn in LaGrange, KY, and The Dragon’s Realm—bringing joy and community to countless book and game lovers.
She had a deep love for people and was always the first to lend a helping hand. Through the Adopt-a- Family Program at Grote Industries. She founded and operated, Tammy supported coworkers in times of need, exemplifying her belief in lifting others up.
Her home was filled with love—not only for her family and friends but also for the animals she adored. Tammy cherished her dog Aurora and her beloved cats Roo, Target, and Alfie. Her heart was open to all creatures, big and small.
Tammy is survived by her devoted daughters, Kendra Henry (Brian) and Kimberly Hall; her treasured grandchildren, Niki and Liam Henry, step-grandchildren, Aslin and Leo Feliciano Torres, sisters, Shirley Kroger Bailey (Roger) of Harriman Tennessee, Debbie Kester (Butch) of Auburn, Indiana, Rose Thompson (Danny Joe) of Akron, Ohio, Addie Willena Jackson (Dwayne) of Hanover, Indiana, Linda Stewart Coppage of Delaware, Indiana, her brother, Boyd Phillip Stewart, Jr. of Madison, Indiana. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Addie Bladen Anderson Stewart, stepfather, Boyd Phillip Stewart, sisters, Mary Anderson Lemon, Brenda Anderson Jackson, brothers, Robert Anderson, James Lloyd Stewart, Randy Lee Anderson and father-in-law, Henry Bentz She was the embodiment of devotion, loyalty, and grace, and her life enriched everyone lucky enough to know her.
A celebration of Tammy’s beautiful life will be held on July 20, 2025 from 11:30am - 2:30pm at Timeless Live, 217 E. Madison Street, Madison, IN 47250. Memorial contributions in Tammy’s honor can be made to the Humane Society of Jefferson County Indiana or Hildegard House.
