Terrie Lynn Alexander Obituary

Terrie Lynn Alexander of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed into eternal life on Wednesday, June 12. Always described as "feisty", "spitfire", and a fighter, she certainly left no doubts as to her strength as she fought her battle with Parkinson's Dementia.

Born on October 27, 1952 to Samuel Arthur Thompson and Georgia Emma LaVerne Kircher Thompson in Louisville, Kentucky. As a young girl she loved helping her Aunt Mae train and show Pekinese dogs. Always the social butterfly, it shouldn't surprise anyone that she was on Student Council. She also enjoyed fishing and hanging out at her grandfather's bait and tackle shop.

Terrie was a dynamic woman who could adapt successfully to any situation and had a variety of interests and even careers. She once was the Director of a Montessori school, worked her way up in the banking and brokerage world where she met, Rich, who quickly became the love of her life. In October of 1997 they were wed and together with her four children built a home of endurance and a love of travel. Terrie also sewed all the costumes for different performances of her kids! In each of her different roles or groups she was a part of, she always managed to amass a group of faithful people who fell in love with her. No matter where she went, she never met a stranger and everyone just loved her! She had an amazing ability to truly care about the people around her and to do whatever she could to help.

Her greatest love was, of course, her family. She loved her people fiercely and so she leaves behind a tight-knit group who call her their own. She is survived by her husband, Rich Alexander and her four children, Melissa Brown (Chris), Olivia East (Carrie), Jonathan Hartman (Andrea), and Scarlet Cormack (Jack). She also has 3 sisters, Barbara Blandford, Sandra Keltner, and Mary Ann Whitaker. Her memory will certainly be treasured by those who call her Mimae, her grandchildren, Emma Brown, Abby Brown, Ethan Hartman, Grace Pereiro, Oliver Pereiro, Rorie Brown, Brooklyn Hartman, Xander Pereiro, Iz-Z, and Lilly Hartman. Terrie was a doting aunt, cousin, sister-in-law, and niece to many and she loved each and every one. Her family will always be thankful for the love and tender care she received from her faithful caretakers who became family. She will be missed daily by her ever loyal Goldendoodle, Pete.

A life like Terrie's requires a lot of reflection and fellowship amongst those who loved her. Her Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 from 11:00am to 6:00pm, with the funeral service immediately after visiting. The family visitation will be at 10:00am. Everything will be at Scott Funeral Home on Veterans Parkway in Jeffersonville, IN. Donations in memoriam should be made to Community Kitchen, Jeffersonville, Indiana.
