Tom was a loving son, brother and uncle. A 1986 graduate of Jeffersonville High School, Tom earned a B.S. in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology from Murray State University and pursued graduate research at Iowa State University. Tom was a scientist at heart and took an analytical approach to life. Over a diverse career, Tom developed an astounding depth of knowledge in a multitude of technical disciplines. Tom was a lover of animals, domestic and wild. He was engaged in wildlife and fisheries research in Kentucky, Missouri, Iowa, Idaho and Alaska. He ultimately applied analytical skills gained through his biological training to a career in pharmaceutical research. Tom worked as a statistical programmer with Source Consulting and a statistical analyst and database architect for Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis, IN. His expertise in enterprise database management and analysis of clinical trials carried him to major research hubs around the globe.
He was preceded in death by his father, Loren Wesley Burger.
He is survived by his mother, Carol Burger; two siblings, Susan Utz (Curt) and L. Wes Burger Jr. (Leslie); and nephews Justin Burger, Wesley Burger, Ryan Burger, Logan Stone, and Alex Utz, and niece Aliya Utz. Tom was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Jeffersonville, IN. He was a neighbor and friend to the weak and helpless. Tom was greatly loved and will be greatly missed, but his family has confidence in the knowledge that he rests in the arms of his Savior and Redeemer. Today he is free.
